An exciting return to the cultivation of cocoa in Grenada’s lush countryside led to the creation of three chocolate bars with a distinct and delectable taste that leaves you wanting more.
Grenada Chocolate Company
GCC Ltd was founded in 1999 with the vision of creating a Cocoa Farmers Cooperative that not only produced dark chocolate, but also empowered farmers and their families to earn a living from the harvesting of cocoa. Bars made by the GCC, have gone on to win international awards and the GCC have been applauded for being one of the best fine trees to chocolate makers in the world.
The Spice Island bar is a tribute to Grenada and makes use of all the spices grown in our tri-island state, such as nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. The Grenadian flag inspires even the packaging along with the Ruby Award presented to Chantal in recognition for her support to business on the island at the 40th anniversary of Independence in 2014.
Let’s just say that Jouvay Chocolate, made at the Diamond Chocolate Factory is an explosion of raw cocoa, just like the surge of energy from a ‘Jab Jab’ masquerader on carnival J’ouvert morning. The founder of Jouvay revealed that the secret ingredients that contribute to the superior taste of our dark chocolate is the fact that they are harvested in volcanic soil among bananas, French cashew and mangoes.
